«The Human’s Space»

How massive might a soul appear to be? What happens when a person’s inner essence is manifesting through the outer shell? The art in its broadest sense is called to recognize the depth of a human’s soul, to express the most intimate, unknowable, and immense among the abundance of clarity.

Photography, generally, declares the highest degree of realism in art. And although it is claimed to be able to expose both beauty and ugliness or hide them instead, the captured object almost always remains real and tangible. And it looks like there is no power capable of showing a pure abstraction through a picture. However, photography, with a proper idea, can manage a lot. As it follows, I ambitiously tried to uncover the concept of space.

The meaning can not be given to an object subsequently after the fact. One of the most conscious approaches to the creation of an artwork is the action under the auspices of clearly defined goals and objectives. The image of a cosmic bliss is an attempt to escape from the form in the genre, where it is almost impossible. The commitment to the ambrotype portrait shooting has tied my hands ... Although, together with that, it gave a simple and clear answer to the question of what space is. This is us. Our souls, our love, our feelings, our sins. Chemical reagents, involved in the process of creating shots, compromisingly helped to go beyond the limits of realism, exposing a pure abstraction.

28 paired artworks from the series «The Human’s Space» tell us that the cosmic component of every single person is a symphony of the Universe. The represented works are not an experiment, but a carefully thought-out statement. It is the fact that an error in the reagents mixture is capable of transferring a clear verified image of the human’s face to the world of spots and lines. And those spots and lines are the best to ultimately convey the beauty and integrity, state of mind and mood of a person. It is hard to argue that both art and science are built on mistakes. Negative empirical experience has been providing humans with an opportunity to doubt the righteous postulates. Does photography need to be realistic? Why should an object be represented exactly in the form we are used to?

«The Human’s Space» calls for thinking and dreaming: intentionally and accidentally. About those lying behind our usual perception of things, objects, people, feelings. How valuable is a miscalculation in a chemical compound and how the symbiosis of the author's vision, coupled with the early photographic process, inherited from the 19th century, may answer to the hidden question?

Dark ruby solution with a massive clot of foggy mass initiated the birth of a star, invented a negative and positive vision of the same image, which is part of a unit: tonal and nagual, chaos and order. A decision, whether a photo is a part of one or another is up to you. After all, we all see different colors and different dreams...
